Our Volunteers

Marti Guzman is special projects volunteer with Urban Works (formerly Anchorage Urban League). Marti, together with a local artist, created the Urban Vibe art show, now in its fourth year. Always the detail-oriented, super organizer,  she also coordinates program  and travel for youth attending the annual Youth Summit at the National Urban League Convention.

Having grown up in Anchorage and raised two college-aged students here, Marti is acutely aware of the social and economic needs of students and their families.  In addition to her volunteer work with Urban Works, Marti gives her time to Big Brothers Big Sisters, and works as a family resources coordinator at Russian Jack Elementary, a Title I school.

Vanessa Gomez, is the former Anchorage Urban League program administrator, and was the front line contact for the public, members and program participants. She was responsible for enrolling and mentoring participants in our workforce development, financial literacy and savings programs.
